Overview
During Know Your Numbers! week, in part association with Blood Pressure UK, we travelled around the UK in the Kinetik Wellbeing blood pressure bus to measure the nation’s blood pressure for free!
High blood pressure is known as a ‘silent killer’, around 56% of the UK population could be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure. So, we at Kinetik Wellbeing wanted to spread awareness of the importance of people knowing their numbers to empower people to both monitor their health at home and make the necessary diet and lifestyle changes to maintain healthy living.
Key Statistics
During the week we travelled to 5 different cities.
In total; we covered a distance of 605 miles between, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and London. We took 2,900 people’s blood pressure! That equates to a measurement every 82 seconds. We continued to spread awareness on our social channels with engagement rates skyrocketing!
All these stats don’t account for the hundreds of thousands of people who would have seen the bus over the week and are now that little bit closer to getting their blood pressure checked at home or by their local GP.
Our Association with Blood Pressure UK
At Kinetik Wellbeing we are committed to empowering the nation to better manage their health from home and blood pressure is right at the heart of this!
That’s why this year we chose to support Blood Pressure UK, who are the UK’s leading blood pressure charity, working to lower the nation’s blood pressure by getting behind their annual Know Your Numbers! campaign.
Phil Pyatt, CEO of Blood Pressure UK
“Everyone needs to take control of their health by checking their blood pressure, especially given high blood pressure does not show any clear symptoms, hence being dubbed the ‘silent killer’. That’s why it’s so important to take control of your health by knowing your numbers as well as benefitting from simple improvements in diet and lifestyle such as eating less salt, more fruit and vegetables and doing more exercise.”
The Know Your Numbers! campaign is supported by the NHS, you can read more involvement in the Midlands area testing day at the article here.
