Why blood pressure matters
You might not know that:
- High blood pressure was responsible for approximately 75,000 deaths in the UK, every year.
- In the UK, it is estimated that 31% of men (9.6 million) and 26% of women (8.7 million) have high blood pressure.
- 50% of people with high blood pressure (9.1 million) are not receiving any treatment and may have no idea that their blood pressure is high.
- High blood pressure accounts for 12% of all GP appointments in England and is currently costing the NHS over 2.1 billion each year.
- High blood pressure is one of the most preventable and treatable conditions.
What is my blood pressure?
Blood pressure can be measured in under 60 seconds with one of our clinically validated blood pressure monitors.
Come to our stand and we’ll test your blood pressure for you.
Blood pressure can fluctuate very easily, these fluctuations can be caused by many things, for example, stress. In instances a raised blood pressure is nothing to worry about, but when your pressure is always raised that’s when it can take a real toll on your body. Will you be able to handle the pressure of the game or will the stress cause your blood pressure to raise?
What does my blood pressure reading mean?
Once your blood pressure has been taken you’ll be given two numbers. Insert both numbers into our free blood pressure tool.

How to naturally lower your blood pressure?
Eat well – Follow a healthy eating pattern which includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats and proteins. Limit sugary, fatty and processes.
Reduce salt – Limit the amount of salt you eat for example by avoiding lots of processed foods.
Get active – Exercise helps to maintain healthy blood pressure, weight and stress levels.
Manage weight – Maintaining a healthy weight can help to prevent high blood pressure.
Stop smoking – Each time you smoke your blood pressure rises temporarily, stop smoking to help reduce blood pressure.
Benefits of remote monitoring
- Improve diagnosis of asymptomatic conditions
- By taking an active role in knowing your recent blood pressure numbers, you are more likely to spot earlier if things are headed in the wrong direction, and equally are more likely to be able to see the effect of any positive lifestyle changes you make.
- Reduce pressure on the NHS
- Prior to the pandemic in February 2020 there were already 4.43 million people on a waiting list for NHS care and by February 2022 that has risen to 6.1 million people. Let’s all do our part to monitor and manage our health at home, so the available capacity goes to those who need it most.
