Irregular Heartbeat

What is an irregular heartbeat?

There are many different types of abnormal heart rhythm. What type you have depends on where in your heart the electrical impulse starts, and if it causes your heart to beat too fast, or too slowly.

The most common abnormal rhythm is atrial fibrillation, an irregular, or fast heart rhythm.

Arrhythmias or heart rhythm problems are experienced by more than 2 million people a year in the UK. Most people with an abnormal heart rhythm can lead a normal life if it is properly diagnosed.

How do you detect an irregular heartbeat?

The symptoms of an abnormal heart rhythm depend on what type of arrhythmia you have. The most common symptoms of an abnormal heart rhythm include: palpitations, dizziness, breathlessness, feeling tired and losing consciousness.

Certain blood pressure monitors, such as many of Kinetik Wellbeing’s, can detect an irregular heartbeat.
