Which is the best Kinetik Wellbeing Digital Thermometer for kids?

Our new Ear and Forehead electronic thermometer for kids and adults is the perfect choice for use on the whole family.

The infrared technology allows temperature to be measured to within ±0.2°C with no contact required, meaning it’s both hygienic and allows you to measure without disturbing sleep. Also with no probe covers required, it’s your ongoing economical choice of digital thermometers to buy.

The added benefit of our no-contact thermometer is that it can be used to measure the temperature of food and liquids, so you can ensure your baby’s food or bath water is just the right temperature.

How do ear thermometers work?

The inner ear thermometer measures the temperature through inserting into the ear and measuring the temperature of energy radiating from your ear drum.

They offer great accuracy and identify changes quickly as the ear drum temperature measurement reflects the core temperature of the whole body.

This is because the body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus in the base of the brain, which shares the same blood supply as the tympanic membrane, or as we call it the ear drum.

How do forehead thermometers / non-contact thermometers work?

Kinetik Wellbeing digital thermometers use infra-red technology to provide a non-invasive alternative to ear thermometers allowing you to measure temperature at a distance.

No-contact digital thermometers use a lens to focus infrared light from one object onto a detector called a thermopile. The thermopile absorbs the infrared radiation and turns it into heat. The more infrared energy, the hotter the thermopile gets and converts this heat into electricity. The electricity is sent to a detector, which uses it to determine the temperature of whatever the thermometer is pointed at.

DIGITAL THERMOMETER FAQs

How do you use the inner ear thermometer correctly?

For children under 1 year of age, pull the ear straight back to ensure the ear canal is straight, then insert the probe into the ear canal to take a measurement. For children over 1 year of age, and adults, pull the ear back and up to straighten the ear canal and then insert the probe into the ear canal to take a measurement.

Do I have to use a probe cover?

Yes for the inner ear thermometers, the cover ensures the lens remains free from any contaminants while in use, this is important in order to maintain the accuracy of the readings. You MUST use a new probe cover for each reading.

How do you use the non-contact digital thermometer correctly?

Ensure the area of the forehead you choose to read from is clear from hair or water before taking a reading. Remove the cover and position the end of the thermometer 2-5cm from the skin surface. After pressing the scan button, you should have a reading within 1-2 seconds.
